Yea for stock!

Recently I had a couple more licensed images on UpperCut Images. Looks like this first shot of my favorite crazy boxer dog Baron will be in an ad for Pepsi. Once again, for the third time actually, Baron is famous!

And this photo of a really cool train in the Mojave desert was licensed by a big oil company and it will appear on the cover of they're brochure. I shot this photo a couple years ago at sunrise, after a very long night of shooting a full moon and not going to bed at all! Good times! I just remembered something funny too, I rented a super wide 14mm lens from my college for this trip and it was due back at 10AM sharp! Well, I just looked at the digital file and I took this photo at 7:13AM, and it was a 3 hour drive back home, if I didn't hit traffic! I ended up driving back really fast and was 20 minutes late, but they were nice about it and didn't make me pay. Good thing I squeezed in that last shot! :)

uncle Jimmy

Sweetest old man ever... I can sit and talk with him for hours upon hours about cars, wars, fighter planes, and fishing. These are a couple of the many portraits I got to do of him on my last trip to Florida.

alien grasshopper

This is a grasshopper I found at the side of the freeway in Colorado. He was super cool looking. I just came across these abstract-ish shots of him, he kinda looks like an alien or something.

slideshow updated...

I just updated the slideshow for Seth and Hannah's wedding. The first version was super rushed, so I decided to change out some photos and add some more, and get better music. If your interested, check it out HERE! You might need to clear your browser cache if you viewed the old one recently.

Congrats Seth and Hannah McAllister!

My long time buddy Seth McAllister was married yesterday to his wonderful and beautiful bride Hannah Bisagni! The ceremony and reception were beautiful and lots of fun, but the best part is that they wanted TONS of photos! Bethany and I shot so much at this wedding and we had some amazing locations! After the ceremony we headed to a classic upstate New York mansion and got some incredible photos of everyone, then after the reception we headed downtown New York in a limo to get some late night photos! That was my first time in New York, so what an incredible experience it was. I'm really enjoying this city. Were staying 1 block from central park, and the next two days were exploring the city! Fun!

And here are a few shots too:

KT Tunstall in Risen Magazine

Just got the newest issue of Risen Magazine in the mail, and it has the shoot I did with KT Tunstall in there. KT said she really liked the photos and the article, so that made me happy.

Here are a few scans of the magazine... sorry the colors are so bad, my scanner is being weird!

playing around in the woods...

A couple days ago the photo above was licensed by my stock agency, UpperCut Images. It will be in an annual report for a financial company. Stock photography is one of the greatest things... let me explain. I took that photo over 6 years ago! I lived in Oregon with my parents at the time, and one of my favorite things to do back then was go up to the woods by our house and rally around in my trusty 1984 4x4 Subaru. I always took my dog Bruno, who is and always will be the best dog on the face of the earth, period. So Bruno, my Subaru, and I were just out messing around in the woods one day when I took this pic. Now it's making me some money. I love the concept of stock photography.

So anyway, all you photographers out there reading this, I highly recommend you get your images into a stock agency asap. I put it off for 5 years and I'm so glad now that they are finally up and selling. Let me know if I can help you out and answer any questions you have about stock photography, I'd be glad to help out!

Just for the fun of it, the first pic below is my Subaru on the day I sold it (sad face) for a whopping $100! The second pic is my buddy Bruno.

batman, robin, and the joker

I haven't posted in a while because I've been super busy and haven't had many chances to shoot recently. So I thought I'd post something really old that I shot for a school assignment a few years ago.
The assignment was to create a small set in the studio and shoot it so it looks lifesize. I've never been much of a studio photographer, so coming up with a good idea was really difficult for me. I was rummaging through a thrift store in Santa Barbara when I found these three figurines from Batman and had the weird idea to photograph them roasting marshmallows over a fire in a forest of flower trees. And of course stars in the background. The stars were projected onto a screen from a slide I had already taken. Everything else was actually real.
It was shot on film with a 4x5 camera (the huge style "Ansel Adams" camera that you have to hide under a black cloth to see in). It turned out kinda cool and it's just fun to look back at my old stuff and see how much things have changed since then.
