my poor stolen car...

I've had a lot of good times in my old 1992 Honda Accord wagon mom-mobile, but it looks like I'll never be driving it again. Two nights ago it was stolen in San Diego, probably down in Tijuana now being stripped for parts or carting people around as a taxicab. Unfortunately I only had liability insurance on it because it was old and not worth much. But it did work well and it served as a great 2nd car for Bethany and I. But there is good to be seen in every situation... now I don't have to worry about getting it to pass the California smog, and I don't need to fix the brakes, and apparently I can write it off in taxes as a property loss. But it would be nice to catch the dude(s) who stole it, so if you happen to see a dark blue Accord wagon driving around with Oregon plates "SNL 431" then roll up your sleeves and show em' who's boss! Not really though... maybe calling the cops would be a better idea.

Here is the only pic I have right now of the car. This was a couple years ago when I drove it up to Oregon for Christmas. It's last time ever seeing snow... awwww.

O I just found one more photo... It doesn't show the car much but this is when I moved from Santa Barbara to San Diego. That is everything I owned in the car! Man I had it sooo packed!!

cool new lens!

A lens that I've had my sights on for a while is the Canon 85mm f/1.2L lens... and I recently purchased one! It's such a nice lens for portraits and low light conditions, because it is 2 1/3 stops brighter than all my other f/2.8 lenses. When you shoot it wide open, the background has this unique out of focus look that you cannot get with most other lenses. Anyway, it's just a super cool fun lens for a photo nerd like me.

We went to this thing last night and even though it was cold and rainy I still wanted play around with the new lens. Here are a few of the photos, they aren't great but I was just having fun taking photos in such dark situations without a tripod...

Yes... Uncle Jimmy has made another appearance on the blog!

Brrrr

I'm in Michigan now and it's a lot colder here than in San Diego. I walked off the plane in flip flops and a t-shirt. Man that was an awakening. I think this photo I took today has a very cold feeling to it.

Yesterday on the plane I noticed this ice forming on the window, so I whipped out the macro and took a photo.

punch punks!

The stock agency I am represented by does this promo called "Punch Punks" and it's pretty cool. They send out these cool magnets for the fridge, and also make these funny animated videos. I just checked out the #2 video today and noticed I have one pic in there. Can you guess which one?? Check it out HERE

Also, sorry my blog hasn't been updated much recently! My camera is being held hostage by Erik from Del Mar Housing Projects. It's almost done... yea!

spider silhouette

Spiders are one of the most fascinating creatures on earth to me. When I find a cool spider, I could sit there and watch him for hours just doing his thing. Especially when they are making a web, or when they are eating a bug. When I was a little kid I would always find bugs to throw into their webs and watch them eat it. Ok Ok, I admit, at 24 years old I still love finding bugs to feed the spiders!
