Angkor Wat sunrise (tourists galore)

We woke up at 4:30AM this morning to catch a "must see" sunrise at Angkor Wat. Yes, it was pretty, and you have to see it once when you come all the way to Cambodia... but... best part was the tourist watching. I knew there was going to be lots of tourists.... but wow... this was something else!

These are snapshots of 2 popular places to watch/shoot it from. The first is in front of a pond. People like this spot because you can get the silhouette of the temple, with the reflection in the background.
The second is... umm... I guess for the lazy people who get past the first wall and say "this is good enough" haha.

I was walking among the crowds of happysnappers just listening to their conversations that all went something like "it looks so good in real life, but so terribly bad on my camera!!"

I wish I could offer a quick 10 minute photo lesson to all these people. My first tip would be- "Your little on camera flash goes all of about 10 feet (on a good day) so it's probably not going to make a difference on a stone structure that is not only 699 feet tall, but also several hundred feet away. Ya.

I love seeing monster truck shows too. Ever noticed when the truck jumps, camera flashes in the grandstands go off by the thousands. That would be an awesome collection of photos to see... Itty bitty monster trucks off in the distance, with several nuclear white bald heads in the next row, yes!!!

Enough ranting... tomorrow were going "on assignment" in Cambodia! More later... :)

I cannot wait to see the photos from your next post! That wall already has me excited. Oh, if you see Lara Croft, could you maybe, you know, set something up for me? ;)

Alright, blaine. First off, you said "were" going on assignment tomorrow.... It's we're. Oky, now on to more important things. I did something that not many of your friends did today--I called you. Of course, I called your parents number, and your mother answered, but I wanted to call you on your birthday so that was my way of doing it, talking to your mother. Now don't get all snotty about how its not your birthday where you are, blah blah blah, Because in the USA, it's still wednesday, the 23rd, which means, your birthday, because last time I checked, you were born here, not in cambodia. So in case you celebrated early, celebrate again, buddy. Also, I do not need grief about how I am sodum to call you since I knew you were overseas, the spirit of you was still lingering in the house and anyway I spoke with half of your DNA so, whatev. You're so great, I just am glad that A you are so cool and B that I am so cool (which is why I am able to be 'friends' with you)... Rock on. Tell B-style I sayd Hola and to make sure to do whatever you want, all birthday week. Lata
